Updated Mon, Jul 29th

Welcome to the week of April 20th.  This video helps explain some of the expectations for the week.  There is a challenge for students and a cameo of Milo Cribari at the very, very end.  As a teaser, Milo doesn't like to dance.

This screencast will also help you navigate the Power School updates that were made over the weekend.

On behalf of the RHMS staff, we wish you well, and we encourage you to reach out to teachers with compliments, questions, and concerns.

Be well.

We hope you had a restful Spring Break and are excited about getting back into a schedule.  This video details the coming week for student and shares some insight into what else is being considered.

As we move to Distance Learning districtwide on April 13th, RHMS looks to pilot certain aspects of it this week.  See here...  Video

We encourage students to still maintain a schedule and to communicate with their teachers.  While lessons are aimed at 30 minutes, in rare instances some may last 45 minutes.  Thirty minute lessons would look like...

Periods 1 and 2 from 8:30 to 9:30

Break

Periods 3 and 4 from 9:45 to 10:45

Break

Periods 5 and 6 from 11:00 to 12:00

Tech Free Hour

Household Chores

We thank families for the collective support of our students during this time and encourage you to reach out to teachers if there is a need we may address.

There are many questions that the following message from Mr. Cribari attempts to answer.  This same video will be shared with students via Google Classroom and SeeSaw tomorrow morning and the days that follow.

Flexible Learning Option (Check column 2 to discover this week's recommended learning.)

Updated Mon, Jul 29th

At the conclusion of a video conference late yesterday afternoon, fifty-seven staff members began working on creating a second week of targeted Flexible Learning Options.  Collaboratively, lessons will be vetted by departments and grade levels, along with members of a Site Leadership Team, before their publication.  On Monday morning, March 23rd, this new Flexible Learning Option will be posted to our website and shared with students via Google Classroom and SeeSaw.

As students maintain the consistency of a daily schedule, accessible lessons, and increased communication with their teachers, we will take direction from the State of California and spend time defining Distance Learning and implementing measures to address this on a large scale.

It is our expectation to have a loose process in place on March 30th, week before our formal Spring Break, and then a tighter system in place on April 13th.

We recognize there will be questions to address.  Please refer to the district's webpage for FAQs, as all sites are following protocols as defined by CUSD leadership.

Thank you for providing safety and support for your children at home, as we work hard to provide the same from school next week.

Be well...

Students and families, we find ourselves in a unique situation.  With updates coming daily, it is certainly dynamic.  Teachers and administrators have spent hours on video conferences, the Google Suite, and Face Time over the last two days.  With CUSD's guidance, we are committed to offering 1040 students the safety and reliability of a schedule and flexibly appropriate learning.

At this point, the work is suggested.  It will be ungraded, but we hope that teachers communicate with your children on aspects of it.  We will post a link onto the end of this article late in the evening of Tuesday, March 17th for students to start their Wednesday.

Parents and guardians, please be mindful that while the link below is availabe so that "anyone with the link" may "view" it, many flexible assignments may only be viewed through a student CUSD Google account.  We have decided to do this for a number of reasons at this time.  We ask that you not  jam our servers and emails with requests for access, rather please work with your child to view specific assignments linked to their grade level and subjects.   In the coming days, we may create a Google Form for comments, as our situation continues to evolve.

This is design thinking in action, where we face a dynamic problem and create potential solutions from dozens if not hundreds of perspectives.  As a staff, we will re-assess this format on Friday afternoon via a video conference and adjust for next week.

We appreciate your support in this endeavor and expect to continue what is undeniably difficult work... all focused upon the 1040 students we serve.

Be well…

Ted Cribari III and Amy Vanderbosch

Flexible Learning Option

Updated Thu, Oct 17th

On Friday, February 28th, from 8:30 to 3:00 in the RHMS Gym, our 8th grade students will  present their Exhibitons.  These presentations are the result of weeks of research, writing, and problem-solving supported by four departments, including science, math, social studies, and English.  We hope each child has an audience of three judges and will need an array of parents, guardians, and family members to accomplish this goal.  Judges receive a training that morning, led by Ms. Kumu in our RHMS Staff Room.  If you are able to serve a half or a full day, please contact Ms. Kumu at mnaeole-takasato [at] campbellusd.org.  On behalf of our 320 8th graders, we thank you for your consideration.
