We’d like to take a moment to share a concern from our local community.  Merchants and patrons at La Rinconada Shopping Center continue to contact RHMS with details of student behaviors and their safety.

Running across Pollard, dodging cars in the parking lot, and showing outward signs of disrespect to store owners and employees is a growing concern.

Upon the end of our school day, we encourage your child to safely walk or bike home immediately or meet you at a nearby location.  Loitering within and around stores tends to create issues that we’d like our students to avoid.

We pride ourselves on our students’ behaviors and hope that you may have a conversation with your child reinforcing this.

Clubs and athletics run year round at RHMS.  While some end in May and June, others are seasonal, and our second session starts in the coming weeks.  We have done our best to gather all potential clubs in a single document and share it with families here.  In some instances, there is a minimum and maximum number of participants for a club to be fully functional.  For further details, we encourage you or your child to contact the office, look at campus shadowboxes, and check classroom exits where information is displayed.

The flu virus and other respiratory “bugs” are most common during the fall and winter. Health professionals recommend several effective precautions to help slow the spread of germs that cause respiratory (nose, throat, and lungs) illnesses, like the flu.

  1. Get a flu vaccine each year.
  2. Avoid contact with people who are sick.
  3. Cover coughs and sneezes.
  4. Wash hands frequently.
  5. Get plenty of rest.

If your child does become ill, please report the absence by calling our Attendance office at 408-341-7061.

If your child does not have healthcare insurance, please contact our Community Liaison, Myriam Cordero,  for information about no-cost or low-cost insurance program options. To reach Myriam call 408-364-4200 x5159, or email mcordero [at] campbellusd.org.

On November 12th from 6:30 to 7:30 in the RHMS Gym, the Santa Clara County Office of Education will share information aimed at helping parents help children navigate the online world.

Updated Mon, Jul 29th

Supported by our CUSD Board, RHMS is the second school to provide take-home Chromebooks for its students.  This initiative has several aims, not the least of which is to provide a platform for immediate and more personalized learning.

At this point, sixth grade and seventh grade students have Chromebooks assigned to them, and eighth graders will follow on 11/04/19.

Recognizing that we need to provide our students with the context and the skills for this online world, departments will provide Common Sense Media lessons on a monthly basis.  Lessons will involve one's digital footprint, safe searches, and cyber-bullying to name three.

While we want our students to have access to learning in our digital world, we also want to instill in our students the skills required to be social and to be kids.  With that, much like our cell-phone policy, Chromebooks will only be used in an instructional setting.  At break and lunch, students will communicate and play much like they always have.

To further support this initiative, on November 12th, in the RHMS gymnasium, there is a presentation from the Santa Clara Office of Education called Connected Parents, How to Keep Our Children Safe, Happy, and Healthy in the Digital Age.  It starts at 6:30 pm and concludes at 7:30 pm.

If you are interested in being an additional positive adult in our kids' lives, we would love to have you join us during lunch to supervise and mentor our students.  If there is consistency in your ability to volunteer, CUSD asks that you provide proof a clear TB test.

If this interests you, please sign up here.  We'll have vest, walkie talkie, and a cup of coffee waiting for you!
