Wrestling Sign-ups

Dear RHMS Families and Wrestlers,

The athletic department is going to change how we sign up our athletes for the upcoming sports.  A post will be sent out through parent square asking you to sign up your athlete for WRESTLING.   By filling out the google form you are giving your child permission to tryout/ be a part of the team.    The google form must be filled out before September 27th.

Athletes will only be invited into the tryout/practice if:

  1. Parents have completed the sign-up form on parent square before September 27th.  The form is at the bottom of this post.  The gray part.

  1. They must have an athletic physical on file with the athletic director.  They cannot bring it in on the day of tryouts.   You can email the doctor signed physical to Carmon Allen at callen [at] campbellusd.org ()  or you can drop it off in the main school office.

  1. An athletic packet needs to be submitted through a parent square form.

  1. Athletes must have and maintain a 2.0/ NO F’s to be a part of an athletic team.  Grades will be checked prior to tryouts.

Thank you in advance for making our sign ups/tryouts more streamlined and easier for the coaches.

To facilitate the importance and complexity of conferences, all CUSD schools close an hour or so earlier than on a minimum day.  In our case, it will be 12:58.  So that teachers have time to release students and adequately prepare, we will start assigned conferences at 1:30.

Recognizing it has historically been a challenge for parents of seventh and eighth graders to meet with five or six teachers, and as a result of parent feedback over the last several years, Rolling Hills will again host in-person, arena style conferencing in our gym.  Sixth grade teachers will continue to host conferences in their classrooms and will soon reach out to families to set up appointments.

If in the previous two weeks you have already had or in the next four weeks plan to have a meeting to discuss student progress and goals, such as a 504, IEP, or SST, there is no need to attend conferences at this time.

For parents of seventh and eighth graders, please arrive with your child at the Gym on your assigned day.  Barring unforeseen circumstances or planned leave, all  7th and 8th grade teachers will be available anytime between 1:30 and 3:30 on Monday through Thursday, and 1:30 to 3:00 on Friday.

It is important to note that the wait time may be longer as the doors open, so you may wish to stagger your arrival or come towards the middle of your assigned window.

Please contact the school office with any questions.  If your assigned day must be altered, we encourage a Friday arrival.  The RHMS office number is 408-364-4235.

We look forward to sharing your child’s progress thus far and creating goals that with your input and support we can attain.

While our CUSD iReady testing window opens tomorrow, RHMS will feature a testing schedule that starts this Thursday.  (Refer to the second page in this link to better understand.). To facilitate school-wide testing, our students will test in their fourth period classrooms.

  • Thursday, September 19
  • Friday, September 20
  • Monday, September 23
  • Tuesday, September 24

This computer adaptive assessment targets four skills in mathematics and six in reading and produces a grade level equivalent.  It is one measure that we can use to target growth and progress.  Parents will receive scores after the district-wide window closes, in early October.

Please help our students successfully start the iReady assessment with a good night's rest and fully charged Chromebooks.  While we have purchased 800 wired earbuds, your child may bring his or her own.  They must be wired, and not bluetooth.

Good morning.

As we are a month into school, we are looking to fill our School Site Council (SSC) positions.

SSC is an advisory group of teachers, parents, and administrators who work together to monitor a school's LCAP (Local Control and Accountability Plan).  It specifically addresses instruction, social emotional learning, and parent engagement.

There are five staff members and five community members who comprise the team.  We are in need of two community members to fill the positions of members whose terms expired.  Terms last two years.

There are typically four or five meetings spread between October and late May.  Each meeting is generally 45 minutes immediately after school, with an agenda that is a template created by CUSD for all schools to follow.

Should you have the desire, please reply to this message by Wednesday of this week so that we may create a ballot.  Our first SSC meeting is loosely calendared in three to four weeks.

For those curious, our first Dining Out event provided food for those interested and $629 donated to our RHMS PTA.  (See attached.)

Tonight is our Back to School Night.  Starting at 6:00 pm and ending at 7:25, we will run a bell schedule similar to previous years and what our neighboring high school does.  Classes will be ten minutes in length, and there will be a five minute passing period.  This will provide you an opportunity to hear from your children's teachers... their classrooms missions, their proven instructional strategies, and details of the year.  Please know your child's schedule and room numbers when speaking with them this afternoon.  Here is a link to support that.

While we will have a dozen or so students from our Leadership class assisting parents and guardians tonight, we've attached a map as well.
