Miss Perris' 6th Grade ELA, Reading, and Social Studies

11/16/18

Happy Friday,

Congratulations to the choir kids!!  They did a fantastic job last night!!

It’s hard to believe that we are at the end of the first trimester.  Your child is now officially 1/3 of the way through 6th grade!  The majority of grades have been entered, although teachers have next week to finish up.  I will not be adding any more assignments in PowerSchool.  As far as Reading/Literature — there were several students who did not reach their AR goal for trimester 1.  To be honest, I have a hard time giving a 0 when a student has taken an AR quiz but has failed to pass it.  So, if your child received a 50 under AR points for Tri. 1, this means that they did not reach their goal.  I would like to see ALL students reach their AR goal next trimester.  To help with this, please encourage your child to pick books within their ZPD (located on the sheet I sent home).  And, please encourage your child to take an AR quiz AS SOON AS they finish reading the book.  Thanks, as always, for your support!
The CIA (Compassion in Action) is sponsoring the 2nd Annual Turkey Trot!!  Click on the link for more information.  2nd Annual Turkey Trot at RHMS

Please remember to fill out the blue science camp forms.  They are due back by Friday, 11/30.  You will need to fill out the green form ONLY if your child will be bringing medication to camp (including any over the counter medications).  The green form needs to be completed by your child’s physician.
