Miss Perris' 6th Grade ELA, Reading, and Social Studies

Homework

Welcome to the homework section. To post homework items, please click the button in the upper-right corner of the screen and select "Create News Page." Each news page should be an individual assignment and should have a unique title.

Each homework post will appear in feeds, or lists. By default, homework posts will populate feeds on your home page and in this homework section. Parents and students can subscribe to these feeds by clicking on the envelope icon in the bottom right corner of each feed.

Every time you post an additional homework news page, it will appear at the top of the feed and push previous posts down the page. When creating or editing an important news page that should stay at the top of the feed, you should select the checkbox "Sticky at top of lists" under Publishing Options.

Please click the Edit button in the right column to delete and replace the above text with information relevant to your classes.

Updated Sun, Sep 4th

Hello Parents,

Welcome to the first Homework Email of the 2016-2017 school year.   I greatly appreciate ALL of you taking the time to contact me with your email addresses.  My database is now complete, and yes, I heard from everyone!
If your child has Language Arts with me 1st period, then I am considered his/her "core" teacher.  If your child has math with Ms. Garcia 1st period, then Ms. Garcia would be your child's "core" teacher.  We will be referring to my group as the gold group, and Ms. Garcia's as the green group (RHMS school colors).
The best way to communicate with me is to email me at eperris [at] campbellusd.org.  I will reply to your email within 24 hours (or sooner).
Announcements:
1.  Back to School Night is Wednesday, September 7 at 6:00 pm.  Your student will be given a schedule to bring home to you on Wednesday.  I look forward to meeting all of you.
2.  Please consider joining the PTA.  They do so many wonderful things for our students and for the teachers!  The 6th grade in particular receives funds for science camp, vocabulary workbooks, and much more.  We couldn't do it without our PTA!
3.  Science camp is almost upon us!  We will be leaving school on Monday morning, 10/10 and return to school on Thursday, 10/13.  There will be no school on 10/14.  Yellow forms were sent home last week.  Please complete the form and return it to school as soon as possible.  This form is to be returned to your child's core teacher.
Additionally, the blue form (medical) needs to be returned to your child's core teacher.  Make sure to fill out the form completely.  If your child needs to bring medication to camp, you will need to bring the blue form to your child's pediatrician.  Medication (including over-the-counter medications) cannot be administered without a completed blue form.
Homework for 9/4/16:
Language Arts:  Employment application is due Wednesday, 9/7.  Remember that the application needs to be completed in ink (black or blue only).  Assignment will be graded on completeness, in additon to accuracy (spelling, punctuation, grammar usage, etc.)
Social Studies:  Bring Landform Grid back to school on Tuesday.  Students will have an opportunity to work on them in class.  We will review landform definitions on Wednesday - Landform quiz will be on Thursday, 9/8.
Reading/Literature:  Read 15 minutes every day.  Students must bring their AR book to class every day!  Reading is a requirement for Reading/Literature.  It is not in "addition" to the nightly homework; it is part of the nightly homework.
If you want to find out if the book your child is reading is an AR book, please go to www.arbookfind.com.  Click whether you are a parent or student, and type in the name of the book.  If it is an AR book, it will pop up on the screen.  You will also be able to see the reading level of the book and the number of AR points it is worth.
I have already started making book selections for several students.  If your child needs help in choosing a book, please have him/her come see me.
I look forward to another terrific school year.  Have a wonderful night.
Miss Perris
