Raising Resilient Kids

Join Mary Eschen, parenting coach and creator of the podcast PARENTING DECODED, to help discover how our kids can become resilient, responsible students.  We’ll discuss:

  • How to get our kids to take care of their “Stuff” (backpacks, water bottles, clothes, sports gear, lunchbox, etc)

  • When to participate in homework vs. when to let our kids do it without us

  • What happens when we do too much for our kids

  • What’s an affordable mistake vs. unaffordable mistake

  • How to embrace making mistakes so they become learning tools

Date: Tuesday, March 4, 2025
Location: Rolling Hills Middle Schoo in the main office

Good afternoon, all.  A late add to our Winter Clubs is 3D Design.  It is a collaboration with Westmont HS students and Mrs. Raghu.  Please see this slideshow for details.  Our students will receive information via Schoology later, with sign-ups available tomorrow at 8:00 am.

Regarding clubs here at RHMS, we have a summary of our program to better explain the background and intention.  I'd like to again thank our RHMS PTA who, through its generosity, supports our program to a large degree.

While CUSD teachers may attend an optional professional development day on Friday, March 21st, all CUSD schools will be closed to students.  Luckily, RHMS PTA has teamed up with Sky Zone to offer families a chance to spend time with children and their friends between 1:00 and 3:00 that day.

Sky Zone, a trampoline, dodgeball, and climbing center, will donate 20% of ticket sales to RHMS PTA, who in turn will continue to support programs that directly support our students.

Read the attached flyer for details, and present it at the time of ticket purchase.

The agenda is here.

Updated Tue, Feb 11th

As we enter a time where week-long vacations arrive and spring is soon enough, we wanted to take the time to re-share with families our CUSD Board approved cell phone policy.

So that students may continue to experience the positive results of an absence of cell phones in classrooms, in restrooms, and between periods, students are also recipients of schoolwide reminders.

While cellphones are to always be in Yondr pouches, Chromebooks are unique.  At CSI, MMS, and RHMS, Chromebooks may only be used during break or lunch in the presence of an adult, that is to say in a classroom or the library.  Students may be engaged in doing homework, watching videos, or playing games.

With the support of our RHMS PTA, RHMS continues to offer an array of playground equipment during lunchtime, including volleyballs, basketballs, soccer balls, and footballs, and our Leadership class hosts music and games in the quad on Fridays.  Our fields and quad are full of positive energy.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and remind your children of the expectations that help focus RHMS energies.

Good morning, RHMS families.

Thanks to the 124 families who responded to the CUSD Studer Survey.  RHMS hopes additional families may complete the 4-5 minute survey prior to its close this Friday.  The link is here.

As a result of some of our 2024 Student, Staff, and Family/Caregiver data, this year RHMS:

  • established a Leadership Class
  • continued to support after school clubs
  • purchased customized postcards to mail to students and families
  • funneled communication to families through a single source, Parent Square

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback to CUSD and RHMS.
