Core Academics

New ideas. New concepts. New skills.

Educating students to their highest potential. That is our mission.

Grades 6 through 8 is when our students explore core subjects more deeply and discover new interests and skills that may continue through high school and beyond. Our teachers provide strong core academic instruction through their broad knowledge of the subject matter, standards-based curriculum, and creative lesson design.

Enrichment

Enrichment opportunities at Rolling Hills Middle School develop the whole student, providing knowledge and context for the world around them. Students will participate in various exploratories during their time at Rolling Hills Middle School. They're encouraged to try these classes, and maybe even discover a new passion in Band, Digital Photography, Journalism, Technology, Visual Arts, or World Languages. They’re also encouraged to participate in a variety of after-school activities and clubs.

Social Studies

State Standards for history/social studies require students to read, write, speak, listen, and use language effectively as well as develop literacy skills through literature and more complex informational texts. Emphasis is placed on developing civic awareness and responsibility, understanding global relationships, making connections between the past, present, and future, and the ability to evaluate historical and contemporary issues.

Spanish

While emphasizing the Common Core curriculum, Spanish at Rolling Hills School encourages students to make connections with a different culture and take ownership of their education through the development of vocabulary and written and verbal skills in a second language.  RHMS offers two levels of Spanish.  Both Spanish courses are taught at a high school level of rigor, and successful completion of the courses  allows students to take advanced Spanish courses in high school.
