9/8/16
Hello Parents,
It was wonderful meeting all of you last night. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to contact me with your email addresses. The best way to communicate with me is to email me at eperris [at] campbellusd.org. I will reply to your email within 24 hours (or sooner).
Announcements:
1. Please consider joining the PTA. They do so many wonderful things for our students and for the teachers! The 6th grade in particular receives funds for science camp, vocabulary workbooks, and much more. We couldn't do it without our PTA!
2. Science camp is almost upon us! We will be leaving school on Monday morning, 10/10 and return to school on Thursday, 10/13. There will be no school on 10/14. Yellow forms were sent home last week. Please complete the form and return it to school as soon as possible. This form is to be returned to your child's core teacher.
Additionally, the blue form (medical) needs to be returned to your child's core teacher. Make sure to fill out the form completely. If your child needs to bring medication to camp, you will need to bring the GREEN form to your child's pediatrician. Medication (including over-the-counter medications) cannot be administered without a completed form.
Homework for 9/8/16:
Language Arts: Forms (locker, science camp, etc.) need to be returned to your child's core teacher.
Social Studies: No homework
Reading/Literature: Read 15 minutes every day. Students must bring their AR book to class every day! Reading is a requirement for Reading/Literature. It is not in "addition" to the nightly homework; it is part of the nightly homework.
If you want to find out if the book your child is reading is an AR book, please go to www.arbookfind.com. Click whether you are a parent or student, and type in the name of the book. If it is an AR book, it will pop up on the screen. You will also be able to see the reading level of the book and the number of AR points it is worth.
Parents of Gold group (Miss Perris' 1st period class): Students were given their STAR Reading reports in class today (part of the AR program). I sat with each student individually, talked about his/her reading level, ZPD, and number of AR points required by the end of the trimester (November). Students have been instructed to show you the report, before taping it inside their planner. The green group will be receiving their reports tomorrow.
I have already started making book selections for several students. If your child needs help in choosing a book, please have him/her come see me.
Miss Perris
