Miss Perris' 6th Grade ELA, Reading, and Social Studies

8/30/18

Happy Thursday,

Please remember that ALL students need to be reading every night for 20 mins., even if it is not their Reading/Literature week.
There will be no school on Monday, September 3 in observance of Labor Day.
Important information for both groups:
1.  Back to School Night is Wednesday, September 5.  This is a night for parents only.  Classrooms are open at 6:00 pm.  We look forward to seeing all of you.  Remember that our doors are always open, so feel free to stop by anytime.
2.  We will be attending science camp from Tuesday, January 15, 2019 to Friday, January 18, 2018.
3.  Flower Power Fundraiser - This is our first fundraiser for science camp!  Information was sent home with students.  With this fundraiser, your child will receive 50% of the profits they earn to put toward the fee for science camp.  MAKE SURE THAT THE ADDRESS ON THE FORM IS LEGIBLE because the bulbs will be sent DIRECTLY to the customer.  If you need more forms, please let us know.  Everything is due back on Friday, September 14.
Homework for 8/30/18:

Reading/Literature:  READ 20 mins. every night.  All students have a book at this time.  If your child tells you that they do not have an AR book, please have them come see me ASAP.
***If a student is not sure if the book they are reading is an AR book, they can go to www.arbookfind.com.  Simply type in the name of the book, and it will tell you if the book is an AR book.
Language Arts:
Review the grammar worksheet for the grammar quiz TOMORROW.  The quiz comes directly from the grammar worksheet.
Math:  Workbook pg. 10, #1-9 and workbook pg. 12, #25, 27
Science:  Prepare your task for “Explore Science” on the hyperdoc for sharing in class TOMORROW.
Social Studies:  Study the landform grid for the landform quiz TOMORROW.  It will be a “matching” quiz, meaning matching the landform to its definition.  HOW CAN YOU QUIZ YOUR CHILD FOR THE LANDFORM QUIZ?  You can ask them the landform definition, and they can give you the name of the landform.
Have a great night.
Ms. Perris/Ms. Harrington
