Homework for 3/21/19:

Reading/Literature:  Students were given the final STAR Reading diagnostic assessment for trimester 3 (part of the AR program).  We still have many students reading below grade level.  The only way to improve your child’s reading is to have them PRACTICE reading at home every day.  I sat down with each student individually and reviewed the STAR Reading diagnostic report with them.  Students should all know their reading level and ZPD (book levels that are just right for them.)  The GE and ZPD have been highlighted in yellow on the report.  Students were asked to tape this report into their planner.  Students were also asked to show you this report.  If they forget, please remind them to show it to you.

Additionally, AR points were assigned as well and are written on the report itself.  All AR points must be earned by the end of trimester 3.

READ 30 minutes every night including weekends!
Language Arts:  Students were given an informational writing packet in class.  They will need to bring this packet to class every day.

Math:  Learning map, last night's homework (3.1), and tonight's homework (3.2 Independent Practice - pages 383 #4-14), will be stapled in a packet.  Please put the Learning map on top, and put the workbook pages in order.

Science:  The vocabulary words and definitions will be posted to Google classroom this afternoon. (We have been working on these for several days in class.)  There will be a science quiz TOMORROW.
Social Studies:  China test TOMORROW.  Use the pink packet as a study guide (Study #1-6 — #7 DVD notes will not be on the test.)  Also, study the review notes taken on the back of the pink sheet.  Students will have to know how to spell the following words:
Confucianism
Daoism
Legalism
Buddhism
Money
weights
measurements
taxes
laws
The Great Wall of China
Gobi Desert
There will be fill-in-the-blank questions with NO word bank, in addition to multiple choice and true/false.  There will be 40 questions on the China test.  The test is worth 80 assessment points.

Have a great night.
Ms. Perris/Ms. Harrington
