Miss Perris' 6th Grade ELA, Reading, and Social Studies

2/12/19

Happy Tuesday,

As far as Valentine’s Day, if your child is planning on bringing candy, please make sure that they bring enough in for every student in their class.  The gold group has 30 students, and the green group has 29 students.  The same goes with Valentine’s Day cards.  We want to make sure that everyone feels included.  :)

Reminders:  Winter break is next week, 2/18/19.  Trimester 2 ends 3/8/19.
Homework for 2/12/19:

Reading/Literature:  READ 30 minutes every night including weekends!

***GREEN GROUP ONLY — Regarding Jaguar - Complete the 4 illustrations at home (if not completed in class).  I am looking for complete sentences.  Some students are still struggling with this.  All sentences must have a subject, verb, and be a complete thought.  Additionally, make sure that the sentence begins with a capital letter and ends with some type of punctuation.
Language Arts:
*Review grammar worksheet
*Vocabulary quiz TOMORROW
*Grammar quiz on Friday, 2/15
Math:  We used a learning map/cover sheet today to start Module 11.  Please make sure your student attaches it to Mod. 11, pages 299–303 and turns it in tomorrow.  I had copies of these worksheets for students who might have forgotten their books.  The homework is page 303.  Module 11 quiz is on Friday, 2/15.

Science:  We reviewed the worksheet that went with several pages in the book.  Students were to have turned in their folder with the learning map on the front and the completed worksheet about scientist characteristics and the scientific method.  They are now in energy groups.  They should know their topic, their teammates, and their job within the group.  Please help them research the following topics for their specific type of energy: what it is, where it comes from, how it is gathered for use, and the advantages and disadvantages. The more they do, the more helpful they will be in their group work tomorrow.

Social Studies:  Review the summary paragraph at home.  I showed students an example of a good summary paragraph.  Students should know what is expected of them with this assignment.

Have a great night.
