Miss Perris' 6th Grade ELA, Reading, and Social Studies

1/24/19

Happy Baskin-Robbins Thursday,

We had guest speakers come into our classroom today — Mr. and Mrs. Holla (Sinchana’s parents).  They gave a beautiful presentation about India.  Students were focused and respectful throughout the entire presentation. It was a proud moment for all of us.  There were so many take-aways for me.  Perhaps, you can ask your child to talk to you about it.  Did something resonate with them?  The notions of karma or dharma (duty), perhaps?  What about yoga and meditation?  It was said today that meditation is known to reduce stress levels particularly in teenagers.  As Mrs. Holla said, “It does not need to be fancy.”  Have your child disconnect from all of their gadgets for 5 mins — just quiet.  This sounds wonderful to me and definitely worth trying.  And, as Mr. Holla suggested, I hope that all of us have a chance to experience other parts of the world, including India!
Walden West has asked our parents to take a survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WW2018Parent.  Please do so at your earliest convenience.
There will be a different student schedule next week due to iReady testing.  The schedule is as follows:
