Miss Perris' 6th Grade ELA, Reading, and Social Studies

11/14/17

Happy Tuesday,

Thank you to Mrs. Andersen (Owen’s mom) and Mrs. Schneider (Raiff’s mom) for coming into our classrooms for Project Cornerstone.  They are graciously volunteering their time to help our students, and we really appreciate it.
I am fortunate to now have 4 tutors in Tuesday’s Homework Center — 2 are stellar high school sophomores and the others are exceptional 8th grade students from RHMS.  They are here to help students in all subjects, including math and English.  On Thursdays, I will have the two 8th grade tutors to help out in Homework Center.

Regarding the short story packets:  If your child’s packet says, “Writer’s Fair”, they will need to make some corrections and resubmit a clean copy to me.  I will need to have the original packet back as well.  The clean copy should not be stapled together.  Writer’s Fair stories are due back by Thursday, November 30.

The end of the trimester is Friday, November 17.  Thanksgiving break is from November 20-24.  We will return to school on Monday, November 27.

Magic the Gathering club will be meeting in room B-1 on Monday, November 27.  All students are welcome.  There is no cost to participate in this club.  The club is scheduled to meet twice a month.  A reminder that if your child is struggling with math, they should be in Mrs. Donovan’s room for homework help on Mondays!

The musical production of Annie will be performed at RHMS on Thursday, November 30 - Saturday, December 2.  They always do a great job with the school play — I hope that everyone can attend!

Announcements:

1.  The annual Color Run will be held on Friday, November 17 directly after school until approximately 4 pm.  The cost is $5.00.  They are suggesting that students wear white!  The first 200 students will receive sunglasses.
