Bullying- it’s a hot topic. Here at RHMS we want to help our students understand how kindness matters in our everyday lives. Our staff is continually working on creating a more positive environment for your children. We’d like to encourage you to help by coming on campus at lunch! We’re looking for more lunch recess support, and are happy to welcome our parents to be visible around the school at lunch. For more information, call Jenna Skinner (campus supervisor) or Sue Odom (school secretary).
We’re also in the process of doing a re-boot with Project Cornerstone. If you’re interested in or able to donate time to help, please contact our school counselor Heather Wood.
Along with kindness goes politeness. Our neighbors at Safeway have asked us to remind our families to discuss what it means to be polite at the grocery store. This includes not blocking doorways, walking (not running) down aisles, and keeping voices at a moderate speaking level when inside a building. I was happy to hear from the store that theft is down, but would be happier to hear that theft is gone and that manners are on the rise.
As always, the majority of our kids at RHMS are wonderful- they just need a few reminders now and then, especially with all the outside influences our children have: television, movies, friends, social media, etc. While we can’t control everything, we can repeat what values are important to us as parents. And a week with your children off school is a perfect opportunity to spend time and live those values.
Have a wonderful week,
Cynthia Dodd
