Ms. Cybele's Core - Math, Science, PE /FLEX

News You Can Use

Welcome to the 2020-21 school year! I am looking forward to getting to know the kids and helping them to acquire the skills to 'do school', learn new information, build their social-emotional qualities and have some super fun!

Please note that I share your students with my teaching partner, Mrs. Harrington. Go to her page here. https://rollinghills.campbellusd.org/harrington-social-studies-language-arts-lit-6th-grade. She teaches Language Arts and Social Studies, while I cover Math and Science. We will be teaching PE and FLEX together.  We label the 2 groups as GOLD and GREEN. GREEN are the HOMEROOM students I begin with at the start of the day. GOLD begins with Mrs. Harrington. These 2 groups of students are our HOMEROOMS. Please note that we cover the same information for all students in this 20 minute time.

PLEASE email me at cpugliese [at] campbellusd.org if you have any questions.

Note from the school Librarian - Mrs. Panus:

Greetings all,
Please include this information in your homework blasts.
We will be having our Scholastic Spring Book Fair April 16-April 20, 2018.
I am looking for volunteers for the following times:
Monday – Set up Book Fair – no help needed
We will open to the students:
Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
1st Lunch – 11:40 – 12:20
2nd Lunch – 12:35 – 1:15
Wednesday – 11:50 – 12:35
Volunteers may contact me via email:  gpanus [at] campbellusd.org or phone: 408-364-4235 x 5188.
I am opting out of opening at break because volunteers are usually unavailable for the short time and the crowds are too overwhelming.
Therefore the book fair will be open at lunch and after school for 30 minutes.
Any help is appreciated.  If I do not have enough volunteers for this event I may have to cancel it entirely.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Gail Panus
RHMS Librarian

Math and Science HW - none

I am finally back after 5 weeks of rahabbing from a total left hip replacement. I couldn't be more thrilled with the results and I feel like I have a new body! The kids made such sweet welcome back notes and I missed each and every one of them while I was out  :)

Our guest teacher, Mrs. Rottler, took wonderful care of the students and I am super-stoked on their accomplishments while I was absent - from test grades to lab activities and behavior <3

We got re-aquainted today and talked about their holiday excursions and my surgery. Official lessons start tomorrow... we did spend a period watching YouTube videos and making posters introducing our new math concept: Order of Operations. Tomorrow I will also launch the 2nd half of our Weather Unit which covers: the Greenhouse Effect, Global Warming, Fossil Fuels and Human's Impact on the Earth.

I passed back the following papers:

- Unit #3 Math Test - Rates/Ratios

- Science Quiz - Heath Energy

- Winter Feast Project

Here's to a FANTASTIC 2018!!  <3  <3

They will complete L7.3 and 7.4 (Measurment Conversions) Thursday and Friday with the Mr. Gillie - the sub. There will be HW and it will be in their planners. I won't be posting HW in here until the beginning of January when Mrs. Gosland-Rotler takes over until 1/29/18.

Unit #3 MATH test is Wednesday 12/20 - Review packet will be started Monday 12/18

No Tutoring tomorrow Thursday 12/14.

Science - took the Heat Energy Quiz - They will be working on the HOLIDAY FEAST PROJECT for the remaining science class days until break. The final draft is due on Thursday 12/21. All unfinished work in class should be completed at home. This is an assessment as it contains standards that have been previously covered.
