Promotion Details!

What should we wear?
Where do I park?
Wait, what's happening on Thursday?

That's right... promotion details follow =)

8th grade promotion is from 11:00 to noon on Thursday, June 11, for those with supporting grades and behaviors

  • As coordinating an event of this magnitude, with just under 260 students and what we expect will be 1000 guests is complex, we will have two to three days of promotion practice. 8th grade students who remain eligible to attend the promotion ceremony need to be present on Monday June 8, Tuesday June 9, and Wednesday June 10.
  • Students are to arrive on time daily, particularly the final days of school as we tweak last minute details.
  • On day day of promotion, students are to arrive on time and dressed to report to first period classes on the day of promotion.
  • Dress for the event itself is to be appropriate for an event of this nature, anything from business casual to semi-formal.  (It is likely only me wearing a bowtie.)
  • There are no limits to the numbers of guests students may have attend. We ask that everyone is mindful of parking and seating and that during our 8th grade ceremony, we also have 600 students in their classrooms.  We are balancing a lot and are eager to see the coordination and cooperation of so many.
  • Staff will park on the blacktop, enabling our community to park in our staff parking lots and along yellow curbs.  La Rinconada Shopping Center has dozens of stalls, and our Garden City Church neighbor off Pollard will allow for additional parking.
  • The front gates, adjacent to the office, are the only gates we will initially open for guests. They open 10:30 am.  We will not be opening gates at any other locations as we are still running a school day.
  • Our ceremony starts promptly at 11:00 am. It is expected to last 45 minutes.
  • Names, except for a handful of students with unique needs, are read in an alphabetical order by an array of staff members who have volunteered to do so.
  • At the conclusion of the ceremony, our promotees will then proceed towards the gym, where families may meet.  Excusal of all 8th graders is at that time and through the double gates adjacent to the gym.
  • We ask that audience members are mindful of umbrellas and noisemakers and other items that may be distractions.  We want every child to feel valued.
  • Student cell phones are allowed at the promotion, as we will have collected Yondr Pouches the day prior.  We will review those cell phone expectations with our students.
  • Should younger siblings at RHMS wish to attend, we have asked that  you contact Ms. Ray at meray [at] campbellusd.org, so that we may properly excuse them.
  • Should younger siblings leave school with their 8th grade sibling, please notify the office so that we know where all of our students are.

Looking forward to seeing you all.  Enjoy your weekend.
