Teachers spent the day connecting large essential standards to daily learning targets. Collaborating within and across grade levels, energies were focussed upon creating projects that allowed students to extend learning.
Today, while RHMS was without power for the final ten minutes of lunch and periods 5 and 6 due to the recent storm, staff and students went about their normal day as best as they could. In many cases, with ample lighting from windows and skylights, instruction continued. Sixth grade students reviewed the Battle of Marathon and Thermopylae, 7th grade classrooms created schematics of future houses, and 8th grade students discussed the Monroe Doctrine and prepared notes for an upcoming presentation.
There are contingency plans for extended power outages, including distribution of food and battery powered lanterns, and Parent Square communication.

We are a two half barrels full thus far and are looking for items that might include art kits, outdoor playground balls, card games, board games, jewelry making kits, and the like. Ask your children for ideas! You or your child may drop unwrapped gifts off in our office.
On not a very wintery day, particpants relayed candy canes... using candy canes!
Pledges, a poster contest, healthy coping skills, and a schoolwide assembly were all part of a concerted effort to share with students the benefits of healthy lifestyle choices and explain dangers of alcohol and vaping.
