Holidays are a wonderful time to establish traditions with your children. Gifts are fun, but traditions are what you remember year after year. It’s making breakfast together, all watching the same favorite movie while eating popcorn in the living room, falling asleep listening to aunts and uncles laughing- these are the memories we treasure. Create a wonderful memory with your family by recognizing your traditions. Help your children see the things that make your family special.

Traditions are also a way to highlight your family values. Eating dinner together stresses the value you place on family. Another is cooking a holiday meal together as a family. It's not about the what the dish is at the meal, but rather the work you put into making that dish that acknowledges the respect you for spending time together. What traditions demonstrate your family values?

Enjoy your children over the next two weeks, and I look forward to seeing everyone in January.

Sincerely,

Cynthia Dodd

Principal, RHMNS

Winter Break is almost here and your children will be home all day. Wondering what to do with them? Read! Even though school is closed, the library is open. Downtown Campbell has a wonderful library always filled with books and adults willing to help your child find that special book that will hold their interest. The more your child reads, the better they do in school. Having access to language is the golden ticket to a great education.

Also important: wear a jacket!!! It’s cold outside! I see many students coming to school without sweatshirts or jackets. It’s okay to be cool in middle school- just not cold!

Finally, remember to pace both yourself and your children. Often we try to do so much we become run down, setting ourselves up for illness. Your children need you healthy and rested for the winter. Please take care of yourself during these cold winter months.

We are excited to announce that we are ready to begin work on our new RHMS garden, and we are seeking volunteer support, as well as donations of supplies, for getting this project up and running. Our garden site has been graded, and the district has installed half of the raised beds, soil, fencing, and a water source.  If you are interested in volunteering or donating materials, we would very much appreciate hearing from you!

While all help is welcome, we do have some specific needs in the near future. If you have expertise, skills, or tools and equipment that would be useful in the following areas, we would be especially happy to hear from you!

  • irrigation installation (especially drip irrigation)
  • a rain barrel
  • strong backs (for moving soil and supplies)
  • most obviously, planting and garden experience

If you are interested in helping, please contact me at the following email address:
cweber [at] campbellusd.org

Alternatively, leave your name and pertinent information at the front office!

We look forward to hearing from you! Let’s get this project rolling together!

Sincerely,
Caitilin Weber

On December 16th & 17th parents should be aware of increased truck traffic on Pollard Road before school hours as the Santa Clara Valley Water District’s contractor delivers more concrete to the Rinconada Water Treatment Plant.
Remind your students, as always, to be safe and only cross with the crossing guard.  We have been seeing students crossing in the street instead of the crosswalk, running vs. walking, and not being careful walking in the Safeway parking lot.
