Rolling Hills Middle School

Safety Drills

Your child’s safety is of utmost importance. Throughout the year at Rolling Hills, our staff and students receive emergency training, and we conduct monthly safety drills.

We have fire, earthquake, and lockdown drills. These are unannounced drills to assure that our students are prepared in case on an actual emergency.

This month on January 22, we will be conducting a practice lockdown drill. This is a specialized drill and we ask students to be at school so we can be prepared in case of an actual emergency. Also, lockdown procedures will be practiced with the office staff. All teachers, staff and students have been trained in lock- down drill procedures.

In the event of a real emergency you would be notified through the voice messenger communication system. In a lockdown situation, the pick up location would be communicated to you. In an earthquake situation, a staff member would direct you to the location where you should pick up your student.

To ensure students and staff know how to react in an emergency situation, we practice monthly drills. We encourage you to discuss at home your emergency plans to prepare your family in case of an unexpected situation as well.
