Rolling Hills Middle School

Riding Bicycles/Scooters/Skateboards to School

We encourage students to walk or ride bikes, scooters, etc., to school.  Remind them of the guidelines and laws when riding.  Students must provide their own lock and lock items (one per lock) to the racks provided.

California law (CVC  21212) requires children to wear helmets when riding. If a RHMS student arrives at school on a bicycle, skateboard or scooter without a helmet, we may take away his/her transportation and contact his/her parents.

While on campus, students must WALK their bikes, skateboards and scooters, etc., and may NOT ride on sidewalks or any other area of the campus. (California Penal Code 640(a) (5)).  Bikes, scooters, etc., MUST be walked on the freeway overpass.

Violations may result in a student losing his or her bicycle riding privilege at school.  Failing to adhere to laws could result in citation from law enforcement.
