Rolling Hills Middle School

Principal's Corner Oct 2, 2015

Yes, it’s finally here! Our Books and Bratwurst Night on Tuesday, October 6th! All proceeds from this evening will go towards our school library. I will be selling food tickets that night, so stop by, say hi, buy dinner, and have a wonderful family evening!

We have a new and improved way to show academic videos on you tube! I’m not sure I understand all the specifics (and I don’t need to) but we are now able to show short informational clips without advertisements when using our district server. Our technology department has worked hard to support our learning community by enabling our students have access to the web while ensuring websites and videos are educationally appropriate. Wouldn’t that be nice to have at home? Internet safety is always on our mind but more and more I’ve heard families discussing the “appropriateness” of what comes up on a search engine. Technology is a truly a double-edged sword.

Also, I’d like to send a gentle reminder to always check your child’s cell phone pictures and videos. Yes, I know we want to protect their privacy, but their judgment (or lack of) often surprises parents. Their maturity has peaks and valleys, and you want to make sure those valleys have supervision.

Have a great weekend,
Cynthia Dodd
