Rolling Hills Middle School

Principal's Corner

The sun is shining, but the rain is still here! Please remind your children to dress in layers, wear sunscreen, and ride their bikes and scooters safely on the wet roads. Gentle reminder: the law requires helmets for all children riding scooters, skateboards, & bicycles. If your child does not have a helmet, their vehicle will be confiscated until you can come to get it from the office. And please, be sure they have a lock for the bike rack and skateboard rack.

We’ve had numerous complaints from the surrounding neighbors about some rude students at Safeway after school. Safeway has been very gracious in offering their side parking lot for student pick-ups after school, so I’d like to remind everyone to be a good neighbor in return. Please pick up your children promptly after school.

State Testing (SBAC) begins on March 20, with practice tests administered. Fifth and Eight grades will then take the Science Test the week of March 27.  After the Spring Break all grades will then begin the official SBAC test on April 24, finishing on May 19. We realize this seems like a great deal of testing, but be assured that there are many days where no testing will occur and students will be working on their regular classroom curriculum. PLEASE DO NOT SCHEDULE STUDENT APPOINMENTS DURING TESTING.

Next Thursday, we will be holding our Parent Tea in the staff room.  I’ll be reviewing our funding projections for next year, and looking for input on our School Site Plan and LCAP. I look forward to seeing you there!

Enjoy the beautiful weather,
