Reading Groups

A student qualifies for reading group based on his/her performance on the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBAC), iReady assessments and teacher recommendation. In order to provide the student with explicit reading instruction, the reading intervention teacher, Mrs Gina Nishihara, meets regularly with reading groups.

Groups meet 1-2 times per week in Room A9 during the student's PE or elective class. This time is an opportunity for the student to receive small group instruction in reading and spelling. The goal is for the student to master reading skills needed to reach grade level standards.
