Cross Country Meet at Harker - Meet Information

This contains some information about the WVAL middle school cross country meet that Harker is hosting at the Blackford campus on Tuesday, September 15, 2015

Based on the anticipated number of participants, we will have three separate races starting at 4PM and about 20-25 minutes apart (with the boys starting about 3 or 4 minutes ahead of the girls for each grade): (1) 6thgraders at 4:00; followed by (2) 7th graders;  and (3) 8th graders. We will gather each grade behind the starting line about 5 minutes before the start of each race. We will ask the top 3 or 4 runners from each school to move to the front at the start of each race.

The course is 1.43 miles in length (measured by wheel) – flat and fast! The course will be marked by domes on the field part of the course. Harker upper school cross country team members will be on the course as monitors. The start/finish line is the same. Runners will run about 1.25 laps of the track after running the length of the football field west to east and then proceed out to the “field” part of the course (and run counter-clockwise). When they come back to the track, they will do a little more than half a lap and then proceed east to west on the football field to the finish. We do not plan on having a lead bike. I am attaching the course map.

There will be a softball game and flag football practice on the fields inside the course. Harker personnel will work to keep the course clear.

Rest rooms are located in the gym lobby. We will have signs directly the way (also indicated on attached map).

Please bring your own water (and other drinks) and medical kits.

Parking is available in the back of the lot adjacent to the Harker Middle School Blackford Campus (3800 Blackford Avenue 95117).
