The Symphonic Band is the top performing ensemble at RHMS, and it is comprised of 7th and 8th grade students who have earned a spot in the group by audition. Due to low participation, I am pulling the group out of the CMEA Music Festival this weekend.  Performing for a panel of judges with an incomplete band and leaving out parts of the music defeats the whole purpose of the event.  We'll try again next year!

District regulations concerning school field trips state that we need one adult for every ten kids.  Counting me and Mr. Aguayo, we still need 4 more parents to sign up as chaperones.  This trip is very simple!  We'll depart from RHMS at 1:00 PM, arrive at Cupertino Middle School, play some music, take a group picture, and return to RHMS by 4:00 PM.  All you will need to do is help me keep the kids together!  Please let me know if you'd like to be a chaperone!

Thanks!

Mr R

Updated Tue, Apr 17th

As we all begin planning for the month of April, I thought I'd make sure everybody understands the time commitments I'm asking the students to make for the Symphonic Band's upcoming music festivals.

The first performance, which is on Saturday, 4/21, will take place at Milpitas High and will last from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM.  This performance will be followed by a trip to Great America, which will last until 8:30 PM.  You received a detailed itinerary with the permission slip packet. The required uniform for this trip is simply the band polo shirt. Students may follow the dress code for the rest of the outfit.  Choose comfortable clothing for the amusement park!

The next music festival, which is on Saturday, 4/28, will take place at Cupertino Middle School, will last from 1:00 - 4:00 PM.  I will send home a detailed itinerary and permission slip after the vacation. The required uniform for this festival is the full band uniform, from the black polo down to the shiny black shoes!

It is essential that every student attend these events so that we can show the judges the full strength of our ensemble!

Please send me an email if you have any questions!
