Advanced Band

The Advanced Band is the top performing ensemble at RHMS, and it is comprised of students who have earned a spot in the group by audition. Throughout the year this group will present four concerts, perform at the CMEA Music Festival, and travel to Santa Clara to participate in the Great America Music Festival!

Wednesday, March 29th

9:00 AM - Advanced Band students report to Band Room

9:15 AM - Bus departs for Monroe Middle School

12:00 PM - Lunch will be provided

2:30 PM - Students arrive at RHMS; Please plan transportation home

5:30 PM - Warm-ups at Monroe Middle School

6:00 PM - STEAM Showcase Concert begins

6:30 PM - Approximate time of Advanced Band performance

7:00 PM - Concert ends

The students will be wearing their STEAM t-shirts (provided free of charge), black pants, black socks, and black band shoes.

Finally, please be sure to hand in your permission slip (see attachment if needed) so that you are free to participate in this event.

Last week you received a packet of paperwork concerning the field trip to the Great America Music Festival on Saturday, April 22nd.  The paperwork was due today.  I need every student to be sure to turn in their packet so that we can continue preparing for the trip.  Please view the attachments if you did not receive a packet.  Thanks!

There will be a meeting tonight (1/17/17) at Westmont High School for the parents of current 8th graders seeking information about the Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) programs at WHS.  The meeting begins at 6:30 PM and will be held in the WHS gym. All of the VAPA teachers will be in attendance in order to answer questions from parents and students.

Sorry about the late notice!  I was only made aware of this meeting on Friday.

The RHMS Winter Concert is tonight at 7:00 PM!  Parents, please sit with your children as you watch the concert.  This is a formal performance, and we need the audience to follow proper concert etiquette.  Please sit with your kids in order to help them behave properly

Also, yearbook group photos are happening tomorrow!  We will be taking the official photo of all three bands, so we would like all the students to bring their band shirts to school for the pictures.  Please don't forget!

There will be a donations bin labelled Music Boosters Bake Sale in the school office. On the day of the concert, please feel free to drop off donations anytime during the day or bring your donation directly to the bake sale. We will be setting up at 6pm.

The RHMS Winter Concert is less than two weeks away!  I hope you're hearing tons of focused practicing at home as we prepare for the big night!  Read on for an approximate schedule and some important details.

When: Wednesday, December 14th, 7:00 - 8:30 PM

Where: RHMS Gym


6:30 PM - Beginning Band students arrive (meet in Band Room)

7:00 PM - Beginning Band performs

7:20 PM - Intermediate Band performs

7:45 PM - Advanced Band performs

Important Notes:

-Please be prepared to wear the proper band uniform! Black shoes, black socks, and black slacks are required!

-Intermediate and Beginning Band students are welcome to use school-owned shoes free of charge (stop by my office after school- sizes are limited- first come, first served)

-Please plan to stay for the entire event!  Please watch all three performing ensembles!

-Beginning Band students need to arrive at 6:30 PM.  All other students should arrive at 7:00 PM.

-There will be another fabulous bake sale!  Here is a message from our wonderful Bake Sale Coordinators:

The Marshall Lane coffee van Awake Up Call will be serving assorted hot, delicious drinks! 
We will also be selling hot dogs for $1, along with our usual selection of fabulous  baked goods!
