Katherine Montoya
I graduated from Norte Dame de Namur with a Master's in Special Education, Moderate to Severe Disabilities with a concentration in Autism. My BS is in Social Sciences with a minor in Education.
For over 23 years have worked with students/children from kindergarten through 8th grades at my church, Girl Scouts Daisy's to Seniors, National Charity League 7th thru 12th-grade levels.
As a teacher at Rolling Hills Middle School. I have created a classroom for autistic students in a range of moderate to severe. It is a multi-dimensional program to support sensory, communication, academic, behavior, and social needs. Every year I reflect on what worked and what could be improved. I am always proud of the growth of my students. I recognize they have made a growth that is generalized outside the classroom.
I have a passion for learning and continued growth personally and professionally. In the past year, I have learned how to become more competent in the virtual world of education. I have taken on professional development in Zoom, Google Classroom, Google Suite, Seesaw, Touch Math, A-Z Learning, ReadWorks, Screencastify, Jamboards, and more. I try to build a more dynamic environment for learning in the current times.
Admittedly, I love working with students and seeing them proud of their growth; and the families enjoying the benefits of their children's growth.
