Celebrating Día de los Muertos

On Monday, we celebrated Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) with fun activities during lunch, including frame decorating and coloring sugar skulls.

In addition, an ofrenda (altar) was created in the staff room to honor and display pictures of loved ones. Both students and staff contributed, making it a meaningful and heartfelt tribute.

Middle school social studies content covers what can be termed "the dawn of time."  Bringing seventh grade standards alive, our very own Mr. Firenze worked with a local group to help our students experience aspects of medieval time.

As we attempt to support students lead a physically and mentally healthy lifestyle, RHMS students were participants in Red Ribbon Week.

This year's Red Ribbon Week was "Life is a Puzzle.  Solve it Drug-Free."  In coordination with our counselor, Ms. Cheng, our Leadership class actively engaged with their peers in knowledge based questions, pledges, and a poster campaign during lunch.  With tobacco and THC based vaping more and more accessible to students, we expect this reminder to serve a purpose as students encounter complex situations.

To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we were thrilled to welcome Mariachi Tapatio to our campus!

Students enjoyed a lively performance filled with singing, dancing, and even a few spontaneous conga lines. It was a wonderful way to honor Mexican culture and bring our school community together through music and joy!

We kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month with a festive Papel Picado art activity during lunch on Friday!

Papel Picado, meaning “perforated paper,” is a traditional Mexican folk art that involves cutting intricate designs into colorful tissue paper. Historically used to decorate celebrations such as Día de los Muertos, weddings, and fiestas, it symbolizes the blending of indigenous and Spanish cultural traditions.
