Happy Wednesday,

Please see the note below regarding the new rotation schedule for PE and Literature.  Your child has PE/Literature during 6th period.
Exciting news!!  You should be receiving information from the Santa Clara County Library District.  As a member of the CUSD family, your child will be receiving a library e-card.  If you do not want your child to have an e-card, you are able to opt out.  The e-card will allow your child access to the library’s website.  There are many resources that the library has to offer, including free online tutoring!  Keep an eye out for this information.

PINK conference forms need to be signed and returned to school as soon as possible.  Conferences will be held on Monday, October 30th - Friday, November 3rd.  Students must attend the conference with parents.

Homework for 10/4/17:

Language Arts (Perris only):

*Review grammar worksheet in preparation for quiz on Friday, 10/6.

**We have begun our narrative (short story) unit in class.  Students will begin writing their short story at the end of the week.  We will spend the next couple of weeks working on the story.  It will be due before we head off to science camp on 10/23.  Students will take the 1st district Performance Task (short story) when they return from camp.

***Students who received a score of 3 or lower on the Jumping Tree response may rewrite their answer for a higher grade.  The response can be found on pg. 8 in the student workbook (Close Reader).  This response was worth 5 assessment points.  Grades have already been entered into PowerSchool.
Social Studies (Perris only):  EDIT the Hammurabi paragraph at home (Google Docs).  PRINT out the paragraph at home and bring to class TOMORROW.
***There is an issue with the Glencoe website that I gave you last week.  The librarian is checking with the publisher at this point.  I will let you know what she finds out.
Math (All):  Adding and subtracting fractions worksheet

Science (All):  Walden West packet due back as soon as possible.

Reading/Literature (Perris only):  ALL students must have taken at least 1 AR quiz by Friday, 10/13.  The 1st trimester ends on 11/17.

Beginning next Wednesday, we will be alternating PE and Reading/Literature EVERY OTHER WEDNESDAY.  This means that your child will have BOTH PE and Reading/Literature in the SAME WEEK.

Please read 20 MINUTES every day at home.  An AR book should be in a student's backpack at all times.

If you want to find out if the book your child is reading is an AR book, please go to www.arbookfind.com.  Please have your child see me if he/she needs help with book selection.

Have a great night.

Miss Perris/Mrs. Donovan/Mr. Chen
