National School Counseling Week - Feb 5-9

In recognition of National School Counseling Week, we will have a different theme related to empowering yourself and others each day of the week.  Parents are encouraged to share these themes with the children.  We'll be focusing on them here at RHMS.

February 5 – Make a New Friend Monday

Monday is Make a New Friend Monday. Teachers and staff will be rewarding students with SOAR tickets when they observe any student demonstrating today’s theme, which is Making a New Friend. This can look like, inviting someone to eat with you at lunch, or starting a conversation with a classmate at break.

February 6 – Tell a Compliment Tuesday
Honoring National School Counseling Week, the theme of today is Tell a Compliment Tuesday. Teachers and staff will be rewarding students with SOAR tickets when they observe any student demonstrating today’s theme, which is Telling a Compliment. For example, you might compliment a classmate for something that they have shared in class or a teacher for their how kind, caring, generous, fun or hardworking they have been in your class.

February 7 – What Makes You Special Wednesday
Honoring National School Counseling Week, the theme of today is What Makes You Special Wednesday. Teachers and staff will be rewarding students with SOAR tickets when they observe any student demonstrating today’s theme, which is Sharing What Makes You Special. For example, think about your language or culture. Think about the activities you spend time on like instruments, martial arts, sports, skating/scootering, cooking, graphics, video-editing, singing, acting, gymnastics, etc. Everyone has something that makes them special.

February 8 – Thankful Thursday
Honoring National School Counseling Week, the theme of today is Thankful Thursday. Teachers and staff will be rewarding students with SOAR tickets when they observe any student demonstrating today’s theme, which is Being Thankful. For example, you might say “Thank You,” to a teacher, counselor, staff member, or administrator for their support of you. You might be thankful for your parents, guardians, or animals. You might be thankful for the great weather in California.

February 9 – Fantastic Acts of Kindness Friday
Honoring National School Counseling Week, the theme of today is Fantastic Acts of Kindness Friday. Teachers and staff will be rewarding students with SOAR tickets when they observe any student demonstrating today’s theme, which is Doing Acts of Kindness. This can look like picking up trash that has been left behind at lunch time, sticking up for someone who needs extra support, or doing something nice to someone randomly.
