Essential Question:

How is DNA used to make proteins & how can a mutation change the protein chain?

  1. “You’re a Ribosome” Lab, Part C and D Decoded (Keep at table)

  1. "You're a Ribosome" H.O. with Questions #6-9

Class Work: 

  1. “You’re a Ribosome” Lab Part C & D: Day 3

    1. Work with your partner--switch roles from last lab

      1. one person (#2) = transfer RNA

      2. second person (#1) = ribosome

    2. Seat 1 & 2 Assemble Part C Deletion Mutation Protein

    3. Seat 3 & 4 Assemble Part D Addition Mutation Protein

    4. Check with Teacher w/Protein Bead Chain  and H.O. 

    5. Compare Part C and D Proteins Beads and on H.O. & Answer #6-9 (One can answer Questions #6-9 by using only the H.O. for Part A and Part C and D :)

    6. Dissemble Part C and D Proteins ONLY & Return Beads; LEAVE Part A and Part B in lab tray

    7. Return Lab tray to front table & wait to be dismissed.

Homework:

  1. Finish Ribosome Lab #6-9 & ALL 3 pages!: Part A, B, C, & D & Q’s #1-9 (Assessment)

  2. Ch. 6 Test Corrections and Reflections due Fri. 2/17/17 (instructions and 5 column form on Google Classroom)

  3. Test Retakes AFTER School Today, 2/10/17, and Wed. 2/15/17--You must complete your Test Corrections and Reflections first, study, then retake.  If you have a "D" or and "F" you must retake tests to raise your science grade!  Trimester 2 ends on 3/10/17.  There will be only one more retake day, if possible.
