Principal's Corner

Dear Rolling Hills Families:

Welcome to the beginning of an exciting new year! District construction and maintenance crews have been busy all summer getting the campus ready for opening day.  The S Wing is beautiful.  New tile, fresh paint, conduit for network wiring.  It all looks wonderful.  And will be even better when the S Wing restrooms are completed.

As we start the new year, we welcome several new teachers to our campus.  In Fifth Grade, joining us from Campbell Middle School, we have Ohan Pineda.  Ms. Pineda is a welcomed back to Rolling Hills.  She worked with Caitilin Weber in the San Jose State Middle Grades program a couple of years ago, and we're thrilled to have her back on site.

In Sixth Grade we were given the go-ahead to expand to nine classrooms.  That allowed us to add three new staff members.  Erin Donovan and Cybele Pugliese join us from Monroe Middle School, and Jill Hernandez comes to us from Campbell.  All three have special interests and skills in math and science, and will make strong additions to our team. These newcomers join an excellent veteran staff for what promises to be a fantastic year.

With our mini growth in population we are also able to keep Dan Baxter on staff full time teaching art.  Rolling Hills continues to offer a rich electives program, even in hard times.  Art, music, Spanish, cultures, and robotics courses are available for our students either as year long electives or on our Exploratory Wheel.

Important information will be coming home this week regarding School Site Council nominations and elections, the parent handbook, and how to subscribe to the Rolling Hills Record on line.  Watch for information about purchasing student planners.  A printing error has caused a delay in their delivery.

Don't forget about two important dates coming up:

The Measure G funds community meeting will be held here at school on Tuesday, September 7 at 7:00 pm.  Please come and listen and share your vision for the future of the Rolling Hills site.

Back to School Night, September 14, begins in the quad at 6:30.

Welcome, once again to the beginning of another great year at Rolling Hills!
